A Thorough Hearts Work provides trauma-informed, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)–integrated STEM programming and structured respite services designed to support the whole child. We serve children in foster and kinship care, those impacted by trauma, and children experiencing behavioral or developmental challenges—while also offering enriching opportunities that advance proficient and advanced learners.

Our approach is both educationally preventive and intervention-based, meaning we proactively build protective factors while providing targeted support when challenges arise. Through intentional integration of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) 5 framework, we help children develop: emotional awareness and healthy self-regulation, impulse control and effective stress management, empathy and perspective-taking, positive communication and conflict resolution skills, and responsible, ethical decision-making

Who We Serve

We support children from birth through adolescence who are:

• In foster or kinship placements
• Impacted by trauma
• Experiencing emotional or behavioral regulation challenges
• Identified with developmental delays or disabilities
• Demonstrating grade-level proficiency or advanced academic strengths who benefit from enriched, socially grounded STEM engagement
